Hiking frenzy

Hiking has became my hard core hobby and I talk about it more often than ever since the return from Gunung Dato'.

***************************************************************************
A colleague of mine who happens to be a pro-hiker (who'd been conquering Gunung Ledang, Gunung Tahan, and hiking expedition to Pakistan, China and lots more) had frequent conversations with me surrounding hiking and a hiking trip was suggested among my colleagues.

Tada. We decided to go to Bukit Tabur nearby MIA in Wangsa Maju on a fine weekend before the coming of Chinese New Year. I invited my dear brother to join the hiking trip as he's enjoying his Uni semester break. (That's how I got plenty of nice pictures shot with my Nikon D50)

Six of us gathered and follow Andy the pro-hiker to the destination. One of us is totally new to hiking and some of us weren't active in outdoor sports. Hence it took us 4 hours to experience Bukit Tabur which I think it could be just two and half hours of journey. Anyhow it was an enjoying one and probably because with the guidance of Andy, I(we) felt pretty relax and less worried about the dangerous and crazy rock climbing part which expertise is critical.

We took it pretty slow and part of it is because most of the time we were taking pictures. Three cameras were crazily snapping here and there. Although it is not as rural as Gunung Dato' and no cooling fresh breeze but pretty nice scenery up there.
Let the pictures say it all. (thanks to Yann and my bro, Ivan for their lovely pictures)

It was this hill that we've conquer. Felt so proud!

The best moment of 2007

Was it too late to share about my best moment of year 2007?

Well, it was the moment when I spread my arms and breathe freely while looking at the pieces of earth that I'm stepping on. That I felt alive. Again.

*****************************************************************************

The week before the year of 2007 ended, I went hiking at Gunung Dato (or Gunung Datuk) in Rembau, N.Sembilan with a friend who introduced the lovely mountain to me. We had light breakfast and drove all the way from Klang to the rural place in an hour and half time. I was pretty excited and didn't know about the toughness of the hiking trip that's going to be.

I still clearly remember that feeling being reached to the summit after two hours plus of hardship going all the way up. It wasn't easy at all that the thoughts of giving up the trip flashed few times in my head. Same went to my hiking mate, Chai Chin as both of us haven't been exercising since the beginning of our career life months ago. In fact it was the toughest hiking trip I've ever had so far!

I have absolutely no idea that the mountain that I've conquered has height of 2,900ft until I've visited this blog that I've just googled randomly. He definitely has great sense of describing the hiking trip and great pictures taken in his trip. (Do click here and here to see how challenging and frightening it was to reach to the top of world)

It was 1pm in the afternoon yet I felt cooling breeze surrounding me and the welcoming of the chirping birds flying around gracefully. What a heart-pumping, breath-taking, provoking yet tranquil, unbelievable, unexpected, overwhelming and totally brand new feeling to be standing on the peak. Me and Chai Chin sat on the peak and stare at the sky for an hour munching potato chips. (Chin brought two bottles of 1.5litres mineral water and a bottle of chips in his backpack) We were sad to leave and it took us almost two hours to go down the mountain.

Right before we conquer the highest point of Gunung Dato, we met a group of three Malaccan who took our nice pictures of conquering that they promised to send to us via email. Really hope that they still remember the promises.

Wonderful trip thanks to Chin and it did give me a new sight of life.

p/s: We had difficulties climbing stairs due to thigh muscle ache the days after.

The very last moment of year 2007

I spent it with my family and darling buddy, Wendy. And many many beautiful aunties and strangers.

Special thanks to my dear foofoo for making such special appearance in my mum's line dancing count down party (regardless of how it might bored people away). Hope she did enjoy the night.

Initially I wasn't going to celebrate the ending of year 2007 nor the welcoming of year 2008 coz' I was just too tired to. All I wanted to do is to stay home do whatever I wanted to (usually watching TV, playing guitar or reading) but I chose to help out mum at her party. I did the holding and talking on microphone part and music control part where suitable music comes out for sessions of the night including lucky draw, game, dancing etc. That's what I do for most of her line dancing party since six years ago.

Yeah, I don't really do line dancing or any kind of dance. Pathetic to be the daughter of a line dance instructor. I did learn line dancing from my mum before I joined college but it was like 4 years ago. Guess one of my new year resolution is to catch up with mum in line dancing.

Welcome, the dancing 2008! (Bit too late to say?!)

Sia

[ˈsiːə / SEE-ah]

in Malay language (according to my Kamus Perdana 1997):
: Sia-sia (
adj.)
1. tidak berguna, cuma-cuma, tidak berfaedah
(futile, vain, useless)
2. kurang berhati-hati (ketika membuat sesuatu), dengan sembarangan sahaja
(indifferently, carelessly, blindly)
3. omong kosong
(nonsense)
4. gagal, tidak berhasil
(wasted, failed)

: sejenis ikan darat (a kind of fresh-water fish)
: mangkuk sia (luncheon box)

: S.I.A - Singapore Airlines

: Sia Furler (or known as Sia)- an Australian pop singer

I knew her through her song 'Sunday' in Grey's Anatomy drama series.
It's a very addictive song and she sings kinda hypnotizing music if you had checked out her album released in year 2004, Color The Same One. I could only remember three songs out of the whole album coz' the rest sounds the same.

Her music produces strong feelings and provokes strong visuals flashing in mind.
That's why they keep appearing in drama series like Six Feet Under, Grey's, and even Spider Man 2's OST.

Sia had just released her latest album, Some People Have Real Problems.
Do check out her live performances in KRCW on Youtube. She has funny look. :D
Fantastic vocal and credits go to the band(especially the bass and cello)!!!

I like her 'numb' music video. Directed by herself and Clemens Habicht.

About My Working Place

My mind is obtuse. Couldn't focus and write much at the moment and hence pictures are in place to tell you I had some great times at work with colleague (besides the demanding workloads, late nights, weekend-working, miserable feelings and mind boggling observation, unsatisfying job progress , nasty deadline, boring times...etc).
More to be updated in words. :-)

This is taken during the last day of Matt who's leaving. ( The one in black Tshirt standing at the back) At the same time, welcome the new came Art Director, Ryan!

This is taken during the last day of George who's leaving. (The specky one squatting beside me)
At the same time, welcome the other new came Art Director, Jamie!

This is taken during an exercise session in FRIM, Selayang with my 3 sweet, cute and nice colleague. (from left to right: Me, Yann, Syok, and Jill)
We were in desperate state of exercise deprivation and thus we agreed to have ourselves sweating out on a fine weekend. It was fun!

Tada! An year-end eating out in Jung Won @ Jln Ampang, KL among Arc's creative. Excellent Korean food and dining environment with laughters and speeches and nonetheless a couple of Shoju (Korean alcohol drink) tossed!

It's going to be my six months of working in Arc KL(or you call it Leo Burnett KL) soon. As I said, feelings are miserable but in a good way i supposed. More to be updated soon. :-)
