The very last moment of year 2007

I spent it with my family and darling buddy, Wendy. And many many beautiful aunties and strangers.

Special thanks to my dear foofoo for making such special appearance in my mum's line dancing count down party (regardless of how it might bored people away). Hope she did enjoy the night.

Initially I wasn't going to celebrate the ending of year 2007 nor the welcoming of year 2008 coz' I was just too tired to. All I wanted to do is to stay home do whatever I wanted to (usually watching TV, playing guitar or reading) but I chose to help out mum at her party. I did the holding and talking on microphone part and music control part where suitable music comes out for sessions of the night including lucky draw, game, dancing etc. That's what I do for most of her line dancing party since six years ago.

Yeah, I don't really do line dancing or any kind of dance. Pathetic to be the daughter of a line dance instructor. I did learn line dancing from my mum before I joined college but it was like 4 years ago. Guess one of my new year resolution is to catch up with mum in line dancing.

Welcome, the dancing 2008! (Bit too late to say?!)

Sia

[ˈsiːə / SEE-ah]

in Malay language (according to my Kamus Perdana 1997):
: Sia-sia (
adj.)
1. tidak berguna, cuma-cuma, tidak berfaedah
(futile, vain, useless)
2. kurang berhati-hati (ketika membuat sesuatu), dengan sembarangan sahaja
(indifferently, carelessly, blindly)
3. omong kosong
(nonsense)
4. gagal, tidak berhasil
(wasted, failed)

: sejenis ikan darat (a kind of fresh-water fish)
: mangkuk sia (luncheon box)

: S.I.A - Singapore Airlines

: Sia Furler (or known as Sia)- an Australian pop singer

I knew her through her song 'Sunday' in Grey's Anatomy drama series.
It's a very addictive song and she sings kinda hypnotizing music if you had checked out her album released in year 2004, Color The Same One. I could only remember three songs out of the whole album coz' the rest sounds the same.

Her music produces strong feelings and provokes strong visuals flashing in mind.
That's why they keep appearing in drama series like Six Feet Under, Grey's, and even Spider Man 2's OST.

Sia had just released her latest album, Some People Have Real Problems.
Do check out her live performances in KRCW on Youtube. She has funny look. :D
Fantastic vocal and credits go to the band(especially the bass and cello)!!!

I like her 'numb' music video. Directed by herself and Clemens Habicht.

About My Working Place

My mind is obtuse. Couldn't focus and write much at the moment and hence pictures are in place to tell you I had some great times at work with colleague (besides the demanding workloads, late nights, weekend-working, miserable feelings and mind boggling observation, unsatisfying job progress , nasty deadline, boring times...etc).
More to be updated in words. :-)

This is taken during the last day of Matt who's leaving. ( The one in black Tshirt standing at the back) At the same time, welcome the new came Art Director, Ryan!

This is taken during the last day of George who's leaving. (The specky one squatting beside me)
At the same time, welcome the other new came Art Director, Jamie!

This is taken during an exercise session in FRIM, Selayang with my 3 sweet, cute and nice colleague. (from left to right: Me, Yann, Syok, and Jill)
We were in desperate state of exercise deprivation and thus we agreed to have ourselves sweating out on a fine weekend. It was fun!

Tada! An year-end eating out in Jung Won @ Jln Ampang, KL among Arc's creative. Excellent Korean food and dining environment with laughters and speeches and nonetheless a couple of Shoju (Korean alcohol drink) tossed!

It's going to be my six months of working in Arc KL(or you call it Leo Burnett KL) soon. As I said, feelings are miserable but in a good way i supposed. More to be updated soon. :-)

Singapore Design Festival '07 #3

Other places I've visited during Singapore trip are:

La Salle College of the Arts, Singapore at McNally St.

A place where students would spend their whole day in the campus practicing creativity unlike TOA. Great architecture and its like the coolest art college I've ever been to.

• One of the must visit shop in Singapore is MUJI. Mr Kenny and Mr Henry's so into it.

I bought a MUJI camera for SGD 7.90. There's gonna be 27 pictures shot and i'm gonna make them into a poster. There's still 1 more picture left to shoot.

• Later at a night I went strolling at Clarke Quay with Mr Henry while Kenny, Swiss and MeiMun had gone back to Malaysia. It was Tuesday and there's no crowd at all. I like the directory in Clark Quay. So well designed and interesting presentation.

Heneiken's Christmas's advertising decoration along Clark Quay.

The G-Max reverse bungy thingy.

Léon, The Professional (1994)

Finally I have the time to watch a movie during a weekday's night last week. It was a very satisfying one.

Léon, The Professional is a film by Luc Besson back in year 1994. It's slick and stylish, sometimes sweet, too when watching Mathilda playing with Léon. The flawless performance of the characters, Léon (Jean Reno), Mathilda (Natalie Portman) and even Norman "Stan" Stansfield (Gary Oldman) definitely made credits to the film besides the stylish cinematography.

Click here to view various poster versions of this movie .

p/s: Thanks George for your kindness to lend me your VCD. :)

Singapore Design Festival '07 #1

This is the most interesting place I've visited during my Singapore trip to its Design Festival back in early December last year. Namely Old School but it's not a school but it used to be a school. It's quite a new place or sort of an art hub founded by a group of Singapore designers. There was an exhibition, DUAL CITY SESSIONS: NULL held in its hall which Mr Henry and I visited and later on had our tea time in a tranquil cafe inside the hub. A perfect rest place after a long day of walking around in the city.

I personally love the directory and signage in the buildings. It was formed by beautiful old serif typeface.

There's a Sinema in Old School too. An independent cinema dedicated to Singapore films.
